Recreational Aviation Foundation (“RAF”):
The RAF was founded in 2003 by a group of Montana pilots who realized the threat of recreational airstrip closure was of national concern. They also recognized that there was the need for a unified effort by pilots everywhere to protect public recreational opportunities. The RAF is dedicated to preserving existing airstrips and actually creating new public-use recreational airstrips throughout the United States.
EAA Chapter 110 member Jeff Smith is the RAF Kentucky State Liaison. As RAF’s local Liaison, Jeff and fellow EAA Chapter members support this national effort in many ways while organizing multiple fly-in events to the many beautiful grass airstrips throughout this region. As with everything in the aviation community, pilots and non-pilots alike are always invited to participate in these events.
